AngelCentral backs US biotech startup RyboDyn
Southeast Asia-based angel investor network AngelCentral said its members have participated in the seed funding round of US-based biotechnology startup RyboDyn Inc., according to its statement on Thursday.
The round also drew backing from Genedant, SeaX Ventures, SOSV, Swell VC, Massive Tech Ventures, and P2V. AngelCentral did not disclose the size of its investment.
RyboDyn plans to use the fresh capital to advance its proprietary platform, expand its dataset, and move its lead drug candidates into investigational new drug (IND)-enabling studies.
RyboDyn is developing immunotherapies by targeting proteins derived from the “dark transcriptome”, regions of the human genome that have traditionally been regarded as non-coding DNA and largely overlooked in conventional drug discovery. The company aims to identify new therapeutic targets for cancers and other diseases where existing treatment options remain limited.
“The emotional and financial impacts on families for these individuals are great. RyboDyn’s approach could eventually lead to drug developments with a significantly better safety profile and higher efficacy, potentially reducing the gruelling side effects or offering new hope where current treatments are failing or are too painful to endure,” said syndicate Lead from AngelCentral, Jeremy Tay, in a statement.
Aerion Motors bags $600k in pre-seed funding
Indonesia-based electric motorcycle startup Aerion Motors has secured $600,000 in a pre-seed funding round from undisclosed investors.
The company plans to use the fresh capital to advance the development of its premium retro-style electric motorcycles, strengthen its engineering capabilities, and expand customer validation efforts ahead of production, according to a report from Backscoop.
Founded by former Amazon executive Adrian Ho Kiu Cheng, Aerion Motors is developing electric motorcycles for the Indonesian market. Its flagship model, Luna, is a retro-style electric motorcycle targeting urban consumers, offering a range of 120-160 km and a top speed of 90 km/h. The company expects the model to retail at around $2,100.
Aerion Motors also plans to incorporate an in-house café and members’ lounge into its showroom concept, allowing customers to relax while their vehicles are being charged or serviced.
The startup is preparing to raise $2 million in a seed funding round to support manufacturing, tooling, homologation, and working capital as it moves towards commercial production.
