Neolix secures Malaysia approval for autonomous delivery road trials

Chinese autonomous delivery firm Neolix has received approval from Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport to begin public-road sandbox testing of its Level 4 autonomous delivery vehicles in Cyberjaya, marking its entry into the country’s autonomous mobility programme and advancing its Southeast Asia expansion.

The approval, granted under Malaysia’s National Regulatory Sandbox framework, will allow Neolix to begin road trials in Cyberjaya, the country’s smart city hub, in the coming weeks. The company said the move complements its ongoing expansion efforts in Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Neolix will conduct the pilot with Malaysian logistics provider Tiong Nam Logistics, mobility platform Asia Mobiliti, and AI infrastructure company MindHub. The trials will evaluate use cases including parcel delivery, campus logistics and e-commerce fulfilment, with testing expected to run through the second half of the year.

The company said Southeast Asia’s growing e-commerce sector and increasing investment in AI, robotics and smart mobility make the region a key market for autonomous logistics.

Neolix has deployed autonomous delivery vehicles in more than 300 cities across 15 countries and regions.

In 2025, Neolix Technologies secured 1 billion yuan ($137.3 million) in an extended Series C round of financing.

France’s BlaBlaCar enters Southeast Asia with four-market rollout

French mobility platform BlaBlaCar has expanded into Southeast Asia, making its intercity carpooling platform available in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam as the company broadens its global footprint, according to its statement on Monday.

The regional expansion increases BlaBlaCar’s presence to 41 countries. Founded in France in 2006, the company operates a marketplace that connects drivers with empty seats to passengers travelling along the same intercity routes, allowing them to split fuel and toll expenses through a non-profit cost-sharing model.

BlaBlaCar said the expansion comes as consumers increasingly seek affordable transport options amid rising travel costs.

The platform enables drivers to publish planned intercity journeys while passengers can search for available seats and contribute to travel costs. On average, each BlaBlaCar trip carries 2.1 passengers, enabling drivers to offset more than half of their fuel and toll costs.

BlaBlaCar said it has around 30 million active members annually worldwide and added more than 600,000 new drivers between March and May this year.
