Chennai-based snacking startup Sweet Karam Coffee and digital storytelling platform Pratilipi have secured fresh funding.

Sweet Karam Coffee bags $8m in Series A round

Chennai-based snacking startup Sweet Karam Coffee has secured $8 million in its Series A round led by Peak XV Partners, with backing from Fireside Ventures, according to a press release.

The company plans to use the proceeds to expand distribution, boost its supply chain, develop new products, and strengthen its brand presence.

Established in 2015, Sweet Karam Coffee offers authentic South Indian sweets, snacks, filter coffee, chips, pickles, and everyday essentials—made without palm oil, preservatives, or maida. Investors believe that the shift from unorganised to organised players, rising demand for better-for-you products, and the rapid expansion of modern distribution channels present a powerful opportunity for brands like Sweet Karam Coffee.

Pratilipi bags $20 million in Series E round

Digital storytelling platform Pratilipi has raised $20 million in a Series E funding round led by Singapore-based venture capital firm Jungle Ventures. The round is a combination of primary investments of $12 million and secondary investments of $8 million.

The company plans to use the capital for its international expansion, particularly into the United States, and to explore new storytelling formats like animation and vertical drama shows.

Pratilipi’s valuation more than halved in the recent funding round to $100 million from its earlier valuation of $265 million. The company delivers stories in 12 languages, read by more than 2.5 crore readers.
