AnyMind Group, a Singapore-founded, Japan-based business-process-as-a-service (BPaaS) company, has agreed to acquire Malaysian e-commerce enabler Arche Digital for $1.5 million, according to an announcement.

This marks AnyMind Group’s second acquisition of an e-commerce enabler, following its acquisition of Indonesia-based e-distributor and e-commerce enabler PT Digital Distribusi Indonesia (DDI) in May last year.

AnyMind Group has made nine acquisitions globally in total in seven years. These include Japan-based publisher trading desks FourM, Hong Kong-based Acqua Media, Thailand-based influencer network Moindy, and others.

In a statement, AnyMind Group said the acquisition of Arche Digital will help strengthen its BPaaS capabilities for domestic and international enterprises in Malaysia.

BPaaS is a business model that provides a combination of software and operational support functions across the business process.

Arche Digital, founded in 2015, provides a wide range of services to enterprises in Malaysia. The services include e-commerce strategy development and operations, warehouse and logistics management, online store operators, and more.

“When considering M&A opportunities, we evaluate the management team’s capability for leading the business in the medium to long term, and cultural fit, as well as synergy with our existing business,” said AnyMind Group CEO and co-founder Kosuke Digital.

He said Arche Digital has deep expertise in the e-commerce field in Malaysia and could create strong synergy with AnyMind Group.

AnyMind Group was founded in Singapore in 2016 and is now headquartered in Tokyo. It was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market last year. It claims to have over 1,500 staff across 22 offices in 15 markets.

The company published its financial results for the first quarter of 2023, showing steady progress in revenue, gross profit, and operating income.

AnyMind Group’s revenue increased 27% year-on-year (YoY) to 6.56 billion Japanese yen ($48.7 million), while its gross profit increased 33% YoY to 2.45 billion Japanese yen on the back of growth in all of the company’s business lines, which include marketing, partner growth, and direct-to-consumer platforms.
