Airwallex, a global payments and financial platform for business, has acquired a majority stake in PT Skye Sab Indonesia, a licensed Category 1 payment service provider, according to an announcement.
The deal, Airwallex said, gives it a direct presence in Indonesia’s payments ecosystem and enables local merchants to access its global financial infrastructure for cross-border expansion.
It also opens a channel for international businesses to enter the Indonesian market, per the announcement. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“Airwallex connects the full spectrum of a customer’s financial operations, money in, money out, and everything in between, giving our agents the contextual data to execute with precision,” said Jack Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Airwallex.
The acquisition extends Airwallex’s regional network, which spans Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Airwallex Asia-Pacific general manager Arnold Chan said Indonesia’s fast-growing economy and small business base made it a strategic market for the company’s “global financial platform” ambitions.
“Our goal is to tackle the financial challenges faced by businesses in Indonesia, empowering them to expand beyond borders,” Chan added.
The acquisition comes shortly after Airwallex announced raising $330 million in a Series G funding round that values the company at $8 billion. The round was led by Addition and backed by T. Rowe Price Associates, Activant, Lingotto, Robinhood Ventures, and TIAA Ventures, Airwallex said.
Airwallex reported annualised revenue exceeding $1 billion in October, up 90% from a year earlier; and annualised transaction volume of more than $235 billion, which it said was double year-on-year. Around half of its customers now use multiple products.
The firm said it holds about 80 licences and permits globally, enabling merchants to operate in more than 200 countries and regions, and that it expanded regulated operations and launched products in 12 markets in 2025, including France, the Netherlands, Israel, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Mexico, and the UAE.
