Digital wealth manager StashAway has introduced two semi-liquid private market portfolios in Singapore and Hong Kong to allow wealthy individuals access to private infrastructure and equity investments.
The Singapore-based company said its new Private Infrastructure and Private Equity portfolios, managed by Hamilton Lane, offer private equity and infrastructure opportunities with shorter lock-up periods and lower costs.
Unlike traditional private market funds that typically require 10 to 15-year lock-ups, StashAway’s portfolios offer monthly liquidity after a short initial lock-up period, per the announcement.
The company said this addresses a key barrier for wealthy individuals looking to access private markets.
“Private markets are no longer limited to endowment and pension fund investors,” said Michele Ferrario, StashAway’s co-founder and CEO.
Ferrario, however, pointed out that many clients view the high minimums and lengthy lock-ups of traditional private market funds as barriers.
“Our new semi-liquid portfolios solve just that, with lower minimums, cost-effective fees, and the flexibility to access their capital if needed,” he added.
Fees are also lower than those charged by private banks, which often reach 3.5%. StashAway clients pay the fund-level fee and a 0.5% platform fee, the company said.
The Private Infrastructure portfolio spans energy, transport, digital networks, and utilities, while the Private Equity portfolio invests across stages, geographies and vintages.
Both are built to provide multi-manager diversification in a single product, according to StashAway.
The move comes as more than 87% of companies generating over $100 million in revenue are now privately held, according to StashAway.
Private markets are projected to triple in size over the next decade as growth opportunities increasingly remain outside public markets.
StashAway was established in 2017 by former Zalora CEO Michele Ferrario, former Nomura global head of derivatives strategy Freddy Lim, and Divvit co-founder Nino Ulsamer. Its top shareholders include Eight Roads, Peak XV Partners, Square Peg Capital, and Community Holdings Pte Ltd.
It offers investment portfolios and wealth management solutions for both retail and accredited investors and operates in Singapore, Malaysia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Hong Kong.
