Megadeals lifted startup funding in Greater China and India in August. There were 11 deals valued above $100 million in Greater China—the highest so far this year—accounting for 84% of the $6.8b in PE-VC money. In India, four megadeals lifted deal value to $1.8b, up 76% from July. The big cheques offset a fall in total deal volume in both regions. In SE Asia, meanwhile, megadeals played truant suppressing fundraising to $314m—a four-month low.
