The optimism witnessed in Southeast Asia in December gave way to gloom in January as startup fundraising fell to a new low of $136 million due to the complete absence of megadeals. In China, though venture investments fell 73.5% to $2.9 billion from a record-setting December, deal volume was at a 12-month high of 248. Indian startup funding, meanwhile, continued on its journey north rising 32% MoM and 160% YoY to reach $1.83 billion.
