Japanese industrial group K’MAC Co., Ltd. has entered a strategic investment partnership with Vietnam-based IDEA Technology Corporation JSC. In a separate development, three Vingroup member organisations have launched the Asian Hackathon for Green Future, a competition dedicated to developing technology-driven solutions for a sustainable future.
Japan’s K’MAC invests in IDEA Technology
Japanese industrial group K’MAC Co., Ltd. has entered into a strategic investment partnership with Vietnam-based IDEA Technology Corporation JSC, marking a new phase of cross-border collaboration in the manufacturing and automation space.
The agreement was signed on April 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in Japan, K’MAC operates across sectors including housing, medical care, automotive, and industrial machinery. IDEA Technology, meanwhile, specialises in industrial machinery design, precision mechanical processing, and automation systems, serving over 250 clients across Japan, the US, and Vietnam.
Vietnam-based advisory firm Profit Station acted as the capital raising and M&A advisor to IDEA Technology, supporting the transaction from investor outreach to structuring and execution.
Vingroup launches Asian Hackathon for Green Future 2026
Three Vingroup member organisations—For Green Future Foundation, VinUniversity, and VinTechTalent—have launched the Asian Hackathon for Green Future, a competition dedicated to developing technology-driven solutions for a sustainable future.
This is the first Asia-wide environmental hackathon arranged exclusively for undergraduate and master’s students in Vietnam. The competition aims to identify and develop technology-driven solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
Proposed ideas should address one of three key challenge areas: renewable energy and low- carbon mobility; urban air quality and climate resilience; water resources and climate-resilient agriculture.
The competition offers a total prize pool of $24,000, comprising a First Prize of $8,000, a Second Prize of $5,000, two Third Prizes of $3,000 each, and five Consolation Prizes of $1,000 each.
Beyond the awards, participating teams will gain valuable opportunities to engage with leading experts from across the region, expand their professional networks, and strengthen their access to the broader innovation ecosystem.
