Gullak, a Bengaluru-based gold savings app, has raised $7.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Chiratae Ventures, it announced on Wednesday.
The funding also saw participation from White Venture Capital, Samved Ventures, and existing backers Y Combinator, GMO & rebel funds, which doubled down on its commitment to the company, Gullak said in a statement.
The fresh capital will be used primarily to strengthen brand presence and marketing, expand reach across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and deepen partnerships with Indian jewellers, the statement added.
“Our goal is to put a gold balance on the phone of every Indian household, just like UPI did for cash. By focusing solely on gold lovers, we’ve built deep trust with early adopters — and this fundraise will now help us extend that trust to millions more households across India. Gold isn’t just another checkbox in a super-app; it is a vertical in itself, and that depth is what makes Gullak different,” said Dilip Jain, co-founder, Gullak.
Gullak claimed that since the launch, its users have purchased more than 1,000 kg of gold on the platform. Through its app, users can set up Gold SIPs from as little as Rs 100 per day, or make one-time purchases. Savings can be redeemed flexibly, whether as jewellery from 5,000 leading jewellery stores, doorstep delivery of coins, or direct cash transfers.
