VN Digest: Warburg-founded BW Industrial signs MoUs; Green Xentro partners Green GSM

BW Industrial has signed two strategic memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen power and renewable energy infrastructure, while electric mobility firm Green Xentro has started rolling out a battery electric vehicle (BEV) taxi fleet in the Philippines, in partnership with Vietnamese ride-hailing platform Green GSM.

Warburg-founded BW Industrial signs two MoUs

BW Industrial, a Vietnamese industrial and logistics real estate platform founded by global PE firm Warburg Pincus and Becamex, has signed two strategic memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen power and renewable energy infrastructure, as it looks to tap rising demand from data centres and advanced manufacturers.

The company announced partnerships with Becamex-VSIP Power Investment and Development JSC (BV Power) and Vietnam-Singapore Smart Energy Solutions JSC (VSSES).

Under the agreement with BV Power, BW aims to develop large-scale electricity infrastructure at its Supply Chain City Industrial Park. The project is expected to deliver an initial 120 MW capacity, with a longer-term roadmap to scale up to around 700 MW over the next 3-5 years, subject to demand. The move is designed to cater to hyperscale data centres and high-tech tenants requiring stable and scalable power supply.

Separately, BW also collaborated with VSSES to instal a 30 MWp rooftop solar system at its Bau Bang Industrial Hub, with potential expansion beyond 100 MWp. The first phase will span roughly 240,000 square metres of rooftop space and is expected to generate over 40 million kWh of renewable electricity annually.

The initiative also marks BW’s largest rooftop solar milestone to date and builds on pilot projects completed in 2024 at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park and My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park.

With nearly 3 million square meters of rooftop space across its portfolio, BW has a strong foundation for broader solar deployment. The initiative is designed to expand tenants’ access to renewable electricity and support their sustainability goals.

BW was founded by Warburg Pincus and Becamex Group, the largest state- owned industrial and infrastructure developer in Vietnam. In 2023, ESR Group, a leading Asia-Pacific real asset owner and manager, became a strategic investor in BW.

BW has more than 10 million square meters of land bank, 60 projects across 10 key provinces and over 475 tenants.

Green Xentro and Green GSM to roll out BEV taxi fleet in the Philippines

Electric mobility firm Green Xentro has kicked off the rollout of a 2,500-unit battery electric vehicle (BEV) taxi fleet in the Philippines, in partnership with Vietnam’s ride-hailing platform Green GSM.

The initial deployment, launched in Rizal province, marks one of the largest fully electric taxi rollouts in the country to date and the first large-scale implementation of Green GSM’s partner-led expansion model in Southeast Asia.

The project builds on an MoU signed in October 2025 between Green Xentro’s parent and Green GSM. Originally planned at 2,000 vehicles, the fleet size has since been increased to 2,500, reflecting stronger-than-expected operational confidence from both parties. Further expansion is expected across Metro Manila and nearby areas.

Under the partnership, Green Xentro will oversee local operations, including driver management and market execution, while Green GSM provides an integrated platform comprising electric vehicles, technology infrastructure, and service standards.

The platform includes real-time fleet monitoring, centralised safety systems, and in-vehicle features such as GPS tracking, CCTV, and emergency response tools. The company has also adopted a salaried driver model, offering fixed monthly income, incentives, and benefits, in a bid to professionalise the transport sector.

Green Xentro is a subsidiary of Xentro Group of Companies.

Green GSM is GSM’s official brand in the Philippines, operating under the global Green SM brand, alongside Xanh SM in Vietnam and Laos, and Green SM in Indonesia.
