Affirmate invests in MUFG-backed BOT Finance

Jakarta-based advisory firm PT Affirmate Bisnis Nusantara (ABN) has completed an investment in PT BOT Finance Indonesia, a leasing firm linked to Japan’s MUFG Finance & Leasing, according to a statement on Monday (March 2).

The investment had received regulatory approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in late January, while the transaction was finalised at the end of February. No deal value was provided.

ABN said the deal is part of its broader strategy to strengthen cross-border business linkages between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the financial services sector. The firm expects the investment to enhance bilateral cooperation, support corporate expansion, and unlock further crossborder capital flows.

“This investment is expected to drive business growth and improve performance amid increasingly challenging conditions,” said Yukifri Nazir, founder and CEO of ABN. He added that the company will continue working with corporates, financial institutions and investors to deepen economic and business ties between the two countries.

Established in 2019, ABN is part of the Affirmate Group, which provides M&A advisory, cross-border investment support, and corporate administrative services. The group says it has served more than 50 clients in facilitating Indonesia-Japan business and investment partnerships.

BOT Finance Indonesia was set up in 1982 as a joint venture. Formerly known as BOT Lease, its main shareholders are MUFG Finance and Leasing—a Japanese financing company under Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group—and Indonesian life insurer AJB Bumiputera 1912. The company has operated in Indonesia for over 40 years, making it one of the longest-established Japanese leasing firms in the country.

Emtek-backed DOKU partners Ant International

Indonesian payments fintech DOKU has entered into a strategic partnership with global digital payments provider Ant International to help local merchants tap international markets and expedite digital payments innovation in the country.

The collaboration builds on an existing relationship that began in 2024 and will now expand across multiple business lines to support Indonesia’s digital economy and financial technology ecosystem.

Under the agreement, DOKU will work with Ant International and its subsidiary Antom, a Singapore-based global merchant payment and digitisation services provider—including regional payment gateway 2C2P—to offer enhanced payment solutions for merchants in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

The partnership will give Indonesian merchants access to Ant International’s global payment processing network, helping them reach overseas customers more easily. DOKU will also leverage Ant’s technology ecosystem, including AI-driven tools, to support merchant expansion and provide digital payment infrastructure to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Conversely, international merchants will benefit from improved access to Indonesia’s domestic payments landscape through DOKU’s suite of local payment methods, such as QRIS, virtual accounts, retail outlet payments, and digital wallets, aiming to streamline consumer transactions.

Chris Yeo, CEO of DOKU, said the deal comes at a pivotal moment for Indonesia’s fintech sector, noting that the company’s transaction value grew by 79% in 2025, driven by its QR-based solutions and merchant-focused approach. He described the partnership as opening new opportunities for local merchants to scale internationally while strengthening domestic growth.

From the global side, Ant International and Antom executives said they are eager to work more closely with DOKU to bring innovative payment services to businesses across Indonesia and the broader region.
