Actis, a leading growth markets investor in sustainable infrastructure, has raised $1.7 billion in commitments for the second vehicle in its long life infrastructure fund strategy and secured the final close of the vehicle, according to an announcement on Tuesday (May 13).

Actis Long Life Infrastructure Fund 2 (ALLIF2) continues Actis’s strategy of investing in operating infrastructure assets in growth markets.

The Actis long life infrastructure strategy invests in brownfield infrastructure assets across growth markets in Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The strategy targets operational improvements over heavy capital expenditure and offers investors predictable, long-term income with moderate leverage. Its core sectors include renewable energy, power transmission and distribution, district cooling, toll roads, and digital infrastructure.

With nearly half its capital already deployed, ALLIF2 is actively progressing a robust near-term pipeline exceeding $2 billion.

In March this year, the fund acquired a 100% stake in Stride Climate Investments, a portfolio of 21 solar generation assets in India. This portfolio seeks to advance India’s clean energy goals while providing long-term contracted cash flows in one of the world’s most rapidly growing power markets.

In December 2024, the fund completed two separate acquisitions of electricity transmission assets, further diversifying and expanding its transmission platform in Brazil.

The fund has received strong support from both existing investors as well as new investors, comprising pension funds, funds of funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds from Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

The fund builds on the successful deployment of ALLIF1, which raised $1.3 billion and closed in 2019.

“Our strategy is built for the investor appetite we are seeing: infrastructure businesses in high-growth markets that have a solid operating track record with stable, downside-protected cash flows. The strong early deployment of ALLIF2, combined with a robust and deep pipeline, reflects our ability to originate at scale and invest with conviction in some of the world’s most dynamic economies,” said Adrian Mucalov, Partner and Head of Long Life Infrastructure at Actis

Since inception, Actis has raised over $26 billion, which has predominantly been invested across a variety of low carbon energy and digital infrastructure and real estate assets. It completed a merger with General Atlantic, a leading global growth investor, in October 2024, creating a business which now has a combined AUM of $108 billion.
