US-based startup accelerator Y Combinator has further trimmed its holding in Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent company of fintech platform Groww, by selling shares worth around $150 million through an open-market transaction.

According to bulk deal data available on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Y Combinator affiliate YC Holdings II LLC offloaded 7.47 crore shares at an average price of Rs 192.16 apiece in the company on August 18, 2026.

The identity of the buyers was not disclosed in the exchange data.

The transaction has reduced YC Holdings II’s stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures to 7.44%, from 8.63% earlier, per media reports.

This marks Y Combinator’s second significant stake sale in Bengaluru-based Groww this year. In May, the accelerator offloaded a 1.45% holding in the fintech company for Rs 1,642 crore through an open-market deal.

The latest stake sale comes as Groww continues to post strong financial growth. The company’s consolidated net profit rose to Rs 735 crore for the quarter ended June 30, from Rs 378 crore in the year-ago period. The number of Groww’s transacting users rose to 22 million during the quarter, up 24% from last year and 4% sequentially.

Founded in 2016, Groww offers a digital platform for investing and managing personal finances. Its services include investments in stocks, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and other financial products, with a focus on simplifying investing for retail users.
