Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has signed an agreement with Indonesia’s Gowa Motor Group to establish a joint venture that will expand its dealership network in the Southeast Asian market.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the companies plan to open at least 30 VinFast showrooms and service centres across Indonesia, offering vehicle sales, after-sales services, maintenance, and customer support.
The partnership is part of VinFast’s broader distribution expansion in Indonesia, where it currently operates more than 40 showrooms. The Nasdaq-listed EV maker aims to add more than 150 new showrooms in the coming years.
Indonesia has emerged as a key market in VinFast’s Southeast Asian expansion. The company has started operations at its manufacturing facility in Subang, West Java, while building out its local sales and after-sales network.
“We believe the combination of VinFast’s product development capabilities, advanced technologies, and comprehensive EV ecosystem with Gowa Motor Group’s local market expertise, automotive network, and operational experience will provide a strong foundation for expanding VinFast’s presence in Indonesia,” said Antonio Zara, Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Southeast Asia.
“Our partnership not only creates new business opportunities for both companies but also reflects our shared commitment to accelerating Indonesia’s green transition,” added Sadikin Aksa, Commissioner of Gowa Motor.
VinFast is also developing its EV ecosystem in the country through partnerships with charging infrastructure provider V-Green, electric ride-hailing operator GSM, financial institutions, banks, service workshops, and dealerships.
VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, is listed on Nasdaq under the ticker VFS. Its portfolio includes electric SUVs, scooters, e-bikes, and buses.
Gowa Motor Group operates across automotive distribution, dealerships, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles in Indonesia, with experience representing multiple automotive brands.
