Allspring Global appoints leader of the Tokyo office

Global asset manager Allspring Global Investments has appointed Tomomi Shige as a representative in Japan and senior sales director, tasking him with leading the firm’s Tokyo office and expanding its distribution business among institutional and wholesale clients.

Shige, who reports to Ludger Peters, head of Strategic Institutional Relationships in the International Client Group, brings nearly 30 years of financial industry experience, including 16 years in investment management and 14 years in client-facing roles.

He joins Allspring from Coalition Greenwich, where he led the investment management business in Japan. He previously held senior roles at Wellington Management, AQR Capital Management, and Amundi Japan, focusing on institutional and wholesale clients.

Earlier in his career, he worked in various portfolio management roles at DIAM Co.; AIFAM Inc.; and Nomura Asset Management, where he began his investment industry career as an assistant portfolio manager in 1997.

The appointment comes as Allspring seeks to strengthen its presence in Japan, one of its three Asia-Pacific markets alongside Hong Kong and Singapore. The firm manages and advises $624 billion in assets globally, according to the company.

Former INA execs join Braxton Capital, Jardine Matheson

Two former senior executives of Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), have resurfaced in new leadership roles, with chief executive Ridha Wirakusumah joining Singapore-based private equity firm Braxton Capital as an adviser and co-chief investment officer Christopher Ganis as lead of Jardine Matheson’s operations in Indonesia.

Braxton Capital on Monday named Wirakusumah to its advisory committee, after he concluded his five-year tenure as the founding chief executive of INA.

The Singapore-headquartered investment firm said Wirakusuma’s experience in banking, financial services, and institutional investing would support its investment strategy across insurance, healthcare, and impact sectors in Asia.

As INA’s founding CEO, Ridha oversaw the establishment of the sovereign wealth fund, which was launched in 2021 to attract long-term capital into Indonesia’s strategic sectors.

Separately, Hong Kong-listed conglomerate Jardine Matheson has appointed former INA executive Christopher Ganis as its head of Indonesia and managing director of investments, effective July 1.

Ganis joined INA in 2021 and was promoted to co-chief investment officer in 2025 after previously serving as managing director of investments, where he led the sovereign fund’s Hybrid Capital Solutions business. Before joining INA, he was BlackRock’s head of private credit for Indonesia.

At Jardine Matheson, Ganis will oversee the group’s operations and investment activities in Indonesia, where its largest asset is listed conglomerate PT Astra International Tbk through subsidiary Jardine Cycle & Carriage.
