SEA Digest: Australia's Eden Exchange buys Dealcierge; Lazada, Peak3 announce JV

Australia’s Eden Exchange has acquired SC Venture’s Dealcierge to create a new platform called EdenX, while Lazada and Peak3 have announced the launch of a joint venture to build a leading digital and embedded insurance ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

Eden Exchange acquires SC Ventures-backed fintech firm

Melbourne-based fintech firm Eden Exchange has acquired SC Ventures-incubated Dealcierge to create EdenX, a new A$50-million ($31 million) Singapore-based platform, according to a press release.

EdenX will be a marketplace for SME mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital-raising, targeting the Asia-Pacific region.

The EdenX platform brings together the complementary networks, technology, IP, and teams of Eden Exchange and Dealcierge to create an expanded digital and collaborative ecosystem aiming to drive market growth across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and ultimately globally, the release said.

EdenX is focused on serving the underserved, sub-$100 million SME M&A and capital markets by expanding access for business buyers and sellers, ultimately providing greater deal flow and access to private capital across borders.

Lazada, Peak3 launch insurance platform

Lazada, a Southeast Asian e-commerce platform; and Peak3, a global insurance technology company, have announced the launch of a joint venture (JV) to build a leading digital and embedded insurance ecosystem in Southeast Asia, according to a press release.

The new JV is embedding innovative, convenient, and affordable insurance propositions into Lazada‘s thriving local ecosystems, linking about 160 million active users to more than one million actively-selling sellers every month, the release said.

As a first step, the JV will focus on developing embedded insurance, including gadget and electronics protection, and product liability protection to safeguard customers and their purchased goods. Additionally, marketplace insurance options, such as car, accident and travel insurance, will provide essential coverage for customers’ everyday activities.

Since its establishment in August 2024, the partnership has already rolled out a dozen insurance propositions across six countries—Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. To date, over 5 million policies have been issued, averaging now over 70,000 policies per day.
