Korea Investment Corp. is looking to sell private equity stakes worth more than $1 billion, with PJT Partners advising on the potential transaction, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The discussions are preliminary and the details could change, according to the report. KIC and PJT declined to comment, Bloomberg said.
The South Korean sovereign wealth fund managed $232 billion in assets at the end of 2025, with more than 78% allocated to traditional assets including equities and fixed income, according to its annual report. The remainder was invested in alternative assets such as private equity and real estate.
The potential sale comes as secondary transactions gain momentum globally, with private equity stake sales reaching a record $121 billion in the first half of 2026, according to an Evercore report cited by Bloomberg.
Higher interest rates, slower private-market distributions and a weak exit environment have contributed to greater activity in the secondaries market, as investors look to generate liquidity and rebalance portfolios.
The potential KIC transaction would add to a series of large secondary processes involving institutional investors seeking to monetise mature private-market holdings.
