HSG, formerly known as Sequoia China, has acquired an approximately 80% stake in PeierTech, a Chinese manufacturer of medical-grade nitinol materials and precision components, as the investment firm expands its healthcare portfolio.
The transaction gives HSG a controlling interest in PeierTech, while the company’s existing management team retains the remaining equity and will continue to oversee day-to-day operations, PeierTech said in a statement on Thursday.
HSG also plans to introduce a market-based equity incentive programme for key management members to support the company’s growth and international expansion.
Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province, PeierTech supplies medical device manufacturers in more than 20 countries. Its products and services include nitinol wire and tubing, precision processing and device assembly for applications spanning cardiovascular, neurovascular, gastrointestinal and orthopaedic medicine.
The company also offers manufacturing capabilities including laser cutting and welding, heat treatment, surface finishing, braiding and precision assembly.
“PeierTech has established a leading global position in a highly specialised segment of medical device manufacturing, built on deep technical expertise and longstanding customer relationships. We see significant opportunities to further strengthen its global position through international expansion, operational improvements, and market consolidation,” said Steve Jia, Partner at HSG.
PeierTech chief executive Amy Shen said HSG’s investment would provide financial support, international experience and an industry network for its next phase of growth.
HSG manages more than $61 billion in assets for institutional investors as of June 30, 2026, according to the firm. Since its founding in 2005, it has backed more than 1,800 companies across technology, healthcare and consumer sectors.
